رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :لكلِّ شَيءٍ اُسٌّ ، واُسُّ الإيمانِ الوَرَعُ .۱
۶۴۶۴.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'For everything there is a basis, and the basis of faith is piety.' ۲
۶۴۶۵.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : مِلاكُ الدِّينِ الوَرَعُ .۳
۶۴۶۵.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The criterion of religion is piety.' ۴
۶۴۶۶.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : أفضَلُ دِينِكُمُ الوَرَعُ .۵
۶۴۶۶.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The best act in your religion is piety.' ۶
۶۴۶۷.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : لامَعقِلَ أحسَنُ مِن الوَرَعِ .۷
۶۴۶۷.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'There is no stronghold better than piety.' ۸
۶۴۶۸.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الوَرَعُ جُنَّةٌ .۹
۶۴۶۸.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Piety is a shield.' ۱۰
۶۴۶۹.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : مَن أحَبَّنا فلْيَعمَلْ بعَمَلِنا ولْيَستَعِنْ بِالوَرَعِ؛ فإنّهُ أفضَلُما يُستَعانُ بهِ في أمرِالدُّنيا والآخِرَةِ .۱۱
۶۴۶۹.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'He who loves us should do as we do, and seek assistance in piety; for it is the best assistance in matters of this world and the Hereafter.' ۱۲
۶۴۷۰.الإمامُ الباقرُ عليه السلام : إنّ أشَدَ العِبادَةِ الوَرَعُ .۱۳
۶۴۷۰.Imam al-Baqir (AS) said, 'The hardest of worship is piety.' ۱۴
۶۴۷۱.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : علَيكُم بِالوَرَعِ ؛ فإنّهُ الدِّينُ الّذي نُلازِمُهُ ، ونَدينُ اللَّهَ بِهِ ، ونُريدُهُ مِمَّن يُوالِينا .۱۵
۶۴۷۱.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'You must have piety; for it is the religion that we adhere to, and with which we devote ourselves to Allah, and we require it from those who accept our guardianship.' ۱۶
۶۴۷۲.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : لَيسَ مِنّا - ولا كَرامَةَ - مَن كانِ فِي مِصرٍ فيهِ مِائةُ ألفٍ أو يَزيدونَ ، وكانَ في ذلكَ المِصرِ أحَدٌ أورَعَ مِنهُ .۱۷
۶۴۷۲.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'He who lives in a place with a population of one hundred thousand or more and there is in that place someone more pious than him, then he is not [considered] one of us.' ۱۸
الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : ثَمَرَةُ الوَرَعِ صَلاحُ النَّفسِ والدِّينِ .۱
۶۴۷۳.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'The fruit of piety is the goodness of one's self and one's religion.' ۲
۶۴۷۴.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الوَرَعُ يحجِزُ عَنِ ارْتِكابِ المَحارِمِ .۳
۶۴۷۴.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Piety prevents from committing prohibited acts.' ۴
۶۴۷۵.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الوَرَعُ أساسُ التَّقوى .۵
۶۴۷۵.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Abstaining [from sins] is the foundation of piety.' ۶
۶۴۷۶.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : لا يَزكو العِلمُ بغَيرِ وَرَعٍ .۷
۶۴۷۶.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Knowledge cannot be developed and purified without piety.' ۸
۶۴۷۷.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : اِتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وصُونوا دِينَكُم بِالوَرَعِ .۹
۶۴۷۷.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'Fear Allah and safeguard your faith with piety.' ۱۰
الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : لا خَيرَ في نُسُكٍ لا وَرَعَ فيهِ .۱
۶۴۷۸.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'There is no good in any deed that is devoid of piety.' ۲
۶۴۷۹.الإمامُ زينُ العابدينَ عليه السلام : الوَرَعُ نِظامُ العِبادَةِ ، فإذا انقَطَعَ ذَهَبَتِ الدِّيانَةُ ؛ كما إذا انقَطَعَ السِّلكُ أتبَعَهُ النِّظامُ .۳
۶۴۷۹. Imam Zayn al-Abidin (AS) said, 'Piety is the structure of worship, and if it is cut, religion will collapse just like when a wire is cut the system follows it!' ۴
۶۴۸۰.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : لا يَنفَعُ اجتِهادٌ لا وَرَعَ فيهِ .۵
۶۴۸۰.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'Diligence is of no use without piety.' ۶
۶۴۸۱.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام - في وصيَّتِهِ لِعَمرِو بنِ سعيدٍ - : اُوصيكَ بتَقوَى اللَّهِ والوَرَعِ والاجتِهادِ ، واعلَم أ نّهُ لا يَنفَعُ اجتِهادٌ لا وَرَعَ فيهِ .۷
۶۴۸۱. Imam al-Sadiq (AS), in his will to Amr b. Said, said, 'I advise you to be wary of your duty to Allah, to have piety and diligence, and know that diligence that is devoid of piety is of no benefit.'
.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : الوَرَعُ سَيِّدُ العَمَلِ ، مَن لَم يَكُن لَهُ وَرَعٌ يَرُدُّهُ عَن مَعصيَةِ اللَّهِ تعالى إذا خَلا بها لَم يَعبَأِ اللَّهُ بسائرِ عَمَلِهِ ، فذلكَ مَخافَةُ اللَّهِ في السِّرِّ والعَلانِيَةِ ، والاقتِصادُ في الفَقرِ والغِنى، والعَدلُ عِندَ الرِّضاوالسُّخطِ.۱
۶۴۸۲.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Piety is the master of action. He who does not have piety to prevent him from an act of disobedience to Allah Almighty when left with it, Allah will not care about any of his other actions. This means that it [piety] is fear of Allah, both in secret and in public, economizing both in poverty and wealth, and fairness both in [times of] contentment and discontentment.' ۲
۶۴۸۳.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : أصلُ الوَرَعِ تَجَنُّبُ الآثامِ ، والتَّنزُّهُ عنِ الحَرامِ .۳
۶۴۸۳.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'The root of piety is keeping away from sins, and restraining oneself from the forbidden.' ۴
۶۴۸۴.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الوَرَعُ الوُقوفُ عِندَ الشُّبهَةِ .۵
۶۴۸۴.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Piety is stopping [in the face of] obscure matters.' ۶
۶۴۸۵.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام - لَمّا سُئلَ عَن الوَرِعِ مِن النّاسِ - : الّذي يَتَوَرَّعُ عَن مَحارِمِ اللَّهِ عَزَّوجلَّ .۷
۶۴۸۵. Imam al-Sadiq (AS), when he was asked about a pious person, said, 'He who restrains himself from what Allah has forbidden.' ۸
۶۴۸۶.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام - أيضاً - : الّذي يَتَوَرَّعُ عَن مَحارِمِ اللَّهِ ، ويَجتَنِبُ هؤلاءِ ، وإذا لَم يَتَّقِ الشُّبُهاتِ وَقَعَ في الحَرامِ وهُو لايَعرِفُهُ .۹
۶۴۸۶. Imam al-Sadiq (AS) also said, 'He who restrains himself from what Allah has forbidden, and keeps away from them. And if he does not beware of obscure matters, he will fall into the forbidden without knowing so
